SAN JOSE, Calif., -- July 15, 1996 -- Unify Corporation (NASDAQ:UNFY) today announced that Sun Microsystems Computer Company has selected the Company as a strategic software development partner for Sun's Catalyst Program during 1996 and 1997. The partnership means that Unify and Sun will systematically share business plans to closely align activities in product development, sales and marketing for the three-tier Internet client/server market.

Partnership Specifics
The strategic partnership will tightly integrate Sun and Unify technologies, resulting in powerful 4 GL solutions for high-end, object-oriented, distributed network and Internet applications. The two firms share a view that vertical markets such as telecommunications and banking/financial services have growing requirements for the development of high-end, scalable applications, and they plan to coordinate their efforts to support joint customers like, AirTouch, Merrill Lynch, NYNEX, Pacific Bell and U.S. Order.
As a Sun strategic Catalyst Partner, Unify will be invited to participate in many of Sun's strategic sales and marketing initiatives and executive forums. Unify will also have global access to Sun distribution channels, through such activities as conferences for ISVs, and access to Sun customer mailing lists. Sun will further support Unify with access to Sun marketing executives and engineers, the availability of loaner equipment for events and development activities, and the right to use the Sun Strategic Partner logo.
